As a hand, wrist, and elbow specialist Dr. AJ Julka is dedicated to a personalized approach to patient care. He aims to provide every patient with the time and attention they deserve while also providing the most innovative and minimally invasive approach to their care.

He has extensive experience in primary as well as revision surgical procedures. His scope of practice includes all disorders of the hand, wrist, and elbow from simple to complex.An Ohio native, Dr. Julka grew up in Strongsville. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in the field of medical microbiology and immunology from the University of Wisconsin. He went on to earn his medical doctorate degree graduating Magna cum laude from the Ohio State University College of Medicine. It was in his first-year medical school class of “Human Anatomy” that Dr. Julka found his love for hand and upper extremity surgery. He completed a rigorous Orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Michigan Hospitals. As a resident, he was recognized as a leader and had the distinction of being selected for the American Orthopedic Association resident leadership forum. He also received multiple “Making a difference” awards for excellence in patient care and the Baril award for research. Following residency, Dr. Julka completed a year of advanced fellowship training in Hand and Upper Extremity surgery at Cleveland Clinic.

Dr. Julka spent 3 years as an Assistant Professor of orthopedic surgery at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals. During his time there, he was distinguished as the first faculty in the orthopedic department’s history to receive the Okagaki teaching award for excellence in surgical teaching two years in a row. He then returned to Ohio where he spent 4 years as Associate Professor of orthopedic surgery at Ohio State University Medical Center. Dr. Julka has published numerous journal articles, textbook chapters, and innovative surgical technique videos. He continues to be engaged in research, innovation in surgical techniques, and educating surgeons on a national level.

Dr. Julka is a devoted father who enjoys fitness, mountain biking and reading in his free time. He lives in Upper Arlington with his wife Courtney Kauh MD and their daughter. ”
